Confirmed: Earthquake not Tsunami Crippled Plant: Requires Review of all nuclear facilities
Workers at Japan's Fukushima plant say the ground under the facility is cracking and radioactive steam is escaping through the cracks. This is a very serious and alarming development, because it started after two large earthquakes in the last few weeks.
This is indicative of breaking of equipment and piping underground beneath the plant, as these cracks continue to open more radioactivity can potentially be released.
This will make the work environment much more dangerous for workers.
The cooling system at the plant failed after the devastating tsunami hit Japan in March, sparking a nuclear crisis.
But new evidence suggests that Fukushima reactors were doomed to cripple even before the massive wave reached them.
There is a great deal of evidence that reactor 1 was already melting down as a result of the earthquake, not the tsunami, brining the safety of all nuclear reactors in Japan under question. A 9 point earthquake has the potential to occur throughout Japan.
The melted core could be moving out of the building after the aftershocks. The ground is reported to be cracking, and radioactivity is being released. The core has melted, and the dropping radiation levels, water pressure levels, and temperatures are lowering, it may indicate that the core is moving farther away from the sensors.
This is a clear example that natural disasters are much stronger than our ability to prepare for them. There are multiple disasters that nuclear reactors are susceptible to, and we are unable to control the potential effects they might have on nuclear reactors.
