As the damage became too obvious to hide any longer, Fukushima was finally up-rated to the top of the IAEA nuclear accident scale on April 11, a month after it began. It has been festering midst multiple deceits and vociferous denials by the nuclear industry, and by the Japanese, US, and Canadian governments. Today, officials are excusing themselves by claiming they did not want to reveal the figures in case they were unreliable, and might cause an unjustified public panic. "
